-- Chugach Electric abuse of executive sessions and information
secrecy. Former
Chugach president's presentation and publication of information to members
silenced. Directors prevented from speaking out about waste and extravagance that
should be known by the public.
SOUTHERN INTERTIE -- FINALLY
DEAD! Controversial
proposed Anchorage - Kenai transmission line. CHUGACH
ELECTRIC SAID IN PUBLIC FOR FOUR YEARS: $19.4 MILLION NET BENEFIT;
the whole time they had the "SECRET" STUDY released 12/5/02:
$67.4 MILLION NET LOSS!
CHUGACH LEADS CHARGE TO REMOVE MOST OF ELECTRIC RATES
FROM RCA OVERSIGHT -- HB 453 would exempt wholesale generation from
state regulatory protection. That might be a good move if there was a
competitive market -- BUT THERE ISN'T! More on "Joint Action
Agencies".
CHUGACH RCA RATE CASE
-- $6 million a year in refunds at stake in this expensive Regulatory
Commission of Alaska proceeding.
BOARD RAISES ITS OWN PAY
-- This has been rejected by members in elections four times in the last ten
years; finally it slipped it by the members.
EARLY CAPITAL CREDITS REFUNDS COMING -- Chugach
Electric to allow discounted capital credits
refund when consumers leave the system. CHUGACH
CONSUMERS ANALYSIS: A very fair solution to complaints
about capital credits being non-refundable for 15 years or more.
Chugach is to be congratulated for avoiding profiteering on this matter.
TIMELY FINANCIAL RESULTS -- Chugach
Electric staff is reviewing financial performance to the board within two
weeks after the end of the reporting month. CHUGACH
CONSUMERS ANALYSIS: A major improvement! In years past, reports were
made 3 months after the fact. Chugach is to be congratulated for
this major improvement in financial accountability.
