2011 Chugach Electric Elections "BULLET
VOTE" ONLY FOR UWE KALENKA! BOARD STATUS: Out of seven, before this election it had only one pro-consumer director (outgoing Liz Vazquez). Six candidates ran for four seats. Chugach Consumers recommends maximizing your voting power. Vote for only one director, Uwe Kalenka, the only candidate with a proven pro-consumer track record.
UWE: Proven track record, a triple A+ voting record during his service on the board! THE IBEW UNION WILL CLEARLY INCREASE ITS BOARD MAJORITY AND INTENSIFY EVEN MORE ITS SPECIAL INTEREST CONTROL OVER CHUGACH ELECTRIC IN THIS ELECTION. It is extremely important that there be at least one director on the Chugach Board where there is absolutely no doubt that the only guide to this director's behavior is total loyalty to the best interests of the electric customer. If there is no pro-consumer director, then the IBEW dominated Chugach board can (and will), with impunity, go behind closed doors in executive session and waste $millions of dollars in your electric bill payments on featherbedded labor contracts, lavish benefits, overstaffing and gold plated and often unnecessary construction and maintenance. That is why Chugach Consumers, for the first time ever, is recommending that members not use all their possible votes (four) on this ballot. Members should only mark their ballot for one director, Uwe Kalenka. Why? Since all six candidates are running against each other for the four board seats to be filled, this will have the effect of greatly magnifying the intent of your vote for Uwe. This strategy is called "bullet voting". Otherwise, if you vote for more than one candidate, it will negate your vote for Uwe (if you really intend for him to be elected to the board). It's additionally important because of the four seats, three are for 3-year terms and one is for only a 1-year term (which will go to the candidate with the lowest vote total). We need Uwe on the board for a full 3-year term. Please mark only one name, for Uwe Kalenka, to make it possible for him to be seated and be a watchdog for the public interest in the face of the expected heavily financed IBEW Union negative personal attack ad campaign. Chugach Electric Association ballots will be mailed to you on April 24th and must be voted and received by the election contractor before NOON Monday May 23. This year you may also vote Electronically on the internet. Look for your ballot envelope in the mail: Vote for your interests, Vote UWE Vote

2009 Matanuska Electric Elections IBEW Union sweeps MEA elections also. 2009 Chugach Electric Elections Valid Ballots Cast: 10,439 Election results - top three elected:
Right after these results were announced, board chair Rebecca Logan retrenched on transparency reforms and guided the board into making the election of board officers SECRET. Logan last year pulled off a surprise take over and was elected board Chair with the support of IBEW Union backed directors. By this secret process these 2009 officers were appointed: Rebecca Logan, Chair, Jim Nordlund (IBEW-backed), Vice-chair, PJ Hill, Treasurer & Alex Gimarc, Secretary. Of interest in these results: The IBEW Union had ALL the money in this election. There were no ads or mailers for pro-consumer candidates at all! Yet only 150-373 votes ( 1.4 - 3.5% of those cast) separated the slates. |
