The current labor contracts expire on 6/30/2006. These contracts have not been fully negotiated since 1987! Chugach board for the first time in 13 years had the flexibility to negotiate a fairer deal for the public in 4/02 when it torched $20 million in Anchorage ratepayer monies when it skipped negotiations. From 8/8/90 to 6/30/03 binding interest arbitration prevented Chugach from any effective way of changing these costly contracts.
